We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with expert-level experience in observability and telemetry to improve the reliability, scalability, and performance of our cloud-based systems. This role focuses heavily on monitoring, logging, tracing, telemetry data management, incident response, and performance optimization across sophisticated, distributed systems.

Job Responsibilities:
- Architect, implement, and manage comprehensive observability and telemetry frameworks including monitoring, logging, tracing, and analytics.
- Use and help run observability and telemetry platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk, New Relic, ELK Stack, Open Telemetry, and Jaeger.
- Partners with software development teams to embed observability and telemetry practices directly into application architectures.
- Develop and refine telemetry data collection, management, and utilization strategies to proactively monitor system performance.
- Establish robust incident response protocols, automated alerting, and proactive telemetry-driven performance monitoring.
- Drive continuous improvement of system reliability and scalability through effective observability and telemetry practices.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and training on observability and telemetry standard methodologies to DevOps and engineering teams.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging observability and telemetry technologies and strategies to maintain outstanding system reliability.
Qualifications:
- 4 - 7+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, or in related roles, with 3+ years of niche expertise in observability and telemetry.
- Advanced proficiency with observability and telemetry tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK stack, New Relic, Splunk, OpenTelemetry, Jaeger, or Zipkin.
- Extensive experience managing observability and telemetry in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Solid experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, or similar).
- Deep knowledge of distributed systems, microservices architectures, and performance fixing.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with chaos engineering, reliability testing, and resilience engineering.
- Background in managing high-availability, large-scale production environments.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps and security standard processes.
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Certification in observability, telemetry, monitoring, or cloud platforms.

Base Pay Range: $92,500 - $166,800Corporate Bonus Target: 15%
The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.
At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
