The Manager, Software Development leads the build out, development, and management of a team of developers for the Device Insurance Technology group. They establish and help in building and maintaining systems, platforms and tools supporting the Device Insurance products and lifecycle. They rapidly deliver world class software solutions to T-Mobile business customers both internal and external. They build short and long term technical strategy in partnership with internal technology and product partners and work very closely with other IT partner teams working on multiple projects.The Manager, Software Development is also responsible for attracting, hiring, retaining a high performing, full stack, team of Software & Data Developers and other members of technical staff to support products and platforms. Most often leading teams of 5-10 FTE and may lead teams of onshore and offshore contracting companies. This role is also directly accountable for developing strong and productive relationships outside your direct teams with partner IT organizations, dependent engineering teams and supporting vendors development teams.
*** This position will sit in Bellevue, WA; Overland Park, KS; or Atlanta, GA. This is not a remote role - this is a hybrid environment requiring 3 days a week in office.
Job Responsibilities:
Effectively manages team to achieve results by providing appropriate direction, timely developmental feedback and coaching, and conducting performance reviews and conversations. They monitor and measure work tasks to ensure deliverables are provided on time and within budget.
Drives continuous development practice improvements across technical disciplines (e.g., team structure, roles, processes, tooling, security & compliance).
Manages technical relationships with assigned vendors, including driving features and function requests for inclusion in future product releases.
Interviews and hires qualified team members, striving to improve T-Mobile bench strength and augmenting product or project teams with contract staff when required.
Education and Work Experience:
Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or in a computer programming related field.
4-7 years' Experience in an Analytics and Business Intelligence development environment.
Experience in software development with expertise in backend API
development and cloud services (AWS, Azure).
1+ years' experience in managing or supervising a team of 15 developers or more.

Led teams in agile software development
(Scrum/Kanban), driving iterative delivery, backlog management, sprint planning, and continuous improvement.

Experience mentoring, coaching, and
developing engineers at all career levels, conducting code reviews, and creating growth opportunities for direct reports.
Software Development Lifecycle
Proven track record designing, developing,
testing, deploying, and maintaining production-grade software systems in a collaborative team environment.
Software Frameworks
Working with software frameworks including Spring, REST, JDBC, JMS, FTP/sFTP, and Webservices; protocols including SOAP, HTTP, and HTTPs; CI/CD integration and methodologies and version control systems including GIT, Jenkins.
Cloud Platforms and DevOps
Practical experience building, deploying, and operating applications in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and working with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code.
Programming Languages
Hands-on experience coding in at least one modern language such as Java, C#, Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript and familiarity with industry-standard frameworks.
Azure Databricks
Experience in Azure Databricks.
GraphQL
Experience in GraphQL development.
Microsoft SQL Server
2008/2012 suite including SQL Server Relational Database Management System Proven T-SQL and MDX development skills, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
Preferred Experience:
Telco Biling Systems
Experience in highly regulated or large-scale environments (telecom, fintech, health tech). Background in data-driven development, analytics, or machine learning. Experience with APIs, integrations, or platform engineering. Exposure to UX/UI design collaboration and user-centered development.
Data Security
Working with data security including compliance standards (SOX, CPNI, PCI, PII etc.) and protocols (SSL/TLS, OAuth, MTLS).

Base Pay Range: $136,600 - $246,300Corporate Bonus Target: 15%

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
