MU-Data Engineers II

MU-Data Engineers II located in Costa Mesa, CA will provide direct data engineering development to data pipelines for ETL establishment and enhancements from operational systems or the data warehouse to and endpoints in the data warehouse, Denodo or customer management platform (Braze).

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to determine data transformation needs, establish data collection requirements, and deploy & maintain accurate data to ensure metrics & dimensions are addressed for analytics/reporting requirements.

  • Participate in daily/weekly SCRUM ceremonies.

  • Transform required data conditions into performance code logic.

  • Develop high-performance code in SQL and Python.

  • Develop, automate, and enhance ELT processes for continuous data flow.

  • Onboard domain data as custom attributes and events to external systems such as Braze, Customer Journey.

  • Maintain data daily updates and core logic integrity.

  • Provide support to troubleshoot data anomalies and apply resolutions.

  • Create, modify, and deploy code to production via AWS resources including Lambda, S3, Glue, Redshift, etc.

  • Partner with stakeholders to support the implementation and development of data requirements. Troubleshoot data anomalies and provide applicable solutions.

  • Build, test, and maintain database pipeline architectures.

  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.

  • Integrate customer data between digital stack and customer engagement platform.

  • Provide guidance and data development nurturing to Level 1 Data Engineering.

  • Create technical documentation for process runbooks.

  • Apply data development to data architectures and enterprise level projects.

  • May work remotely from anywhere in the US.

Skill requirements:

  • (1) Advanced level in SQL and Python for data engineering and backend development.

  • (2) Understanding of popular code development approaches: Test-driven development & Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).

  • (3) Experienced working with AWS services (Lambda, S3, Glue, Redshift etc.) and Cloud Data Warehouse.

  • (4) Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.

  • (5) Define digital data collection methods and implementations to DWH and customer management platforms.

  • (6) Provide guidance to website tagging, digital data integration and collections.

  • (7) Experienced with QA testing process to verify data is collected & rendered as expected.

  • (8) Prior working knowledge of Braze or other Customer Management Platforms.

  • (9) Snowflake Cloud Data Warehouse.

  • (10) Terraform/Bitbucket/Airflow/Jenkins.

  • (11) Tableau, Tealium, Google Tag Management & GA360.

Experience and education requirements:

PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in computer science, any engineering, data science or closely related field and 2 years of relevant experience.

Candidate’s pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience. At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
