Job Overview
The System Architecture Engineer's role is to develop and evolve technical network and service architectures and design strategies to maintain, enhance, and evolve the T-Mobile Technology portfolio. Specific tasks may include the creation, adaption, or revision of detailed schematics of network and service architecture, hardware and software selections, and implementation techniques and processes. The engineer may be required to perform, evaluate, or interpret network simulations, test results, or leading-edge technology studies. Technical documentation and presentation skills are essential to communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences. The role influences and drives industry forums and involves technical assignments that require sound judgment and initiative in resolving issues or making recommendations. The engineer determines methods and procedures for new assignments with minimal supervision and may act as an informal team leader. Additionally, this role serves as a key technical leader in architecting Online Charging Systems, Network Provisioning, and their integration with Core Network, Billing, Revenue, and Order Management systems. It requires aligning designs with industry standards (e.g., TM Forum, 3GPP), collaborating across engineering, network, and business teams to deliver scalable and strategic solutions, and leading innovation through cloud-native architectures, AI/ML technologies, and Generative AI integrations. Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the lead architect for Online Charging Systems, Network Provisioning together with the interworking of these systems with southbound Core Network systems and the Billing, Revenue and Order management systems.
  • Define and drive the evolution of systems architecture and design aligned with industry best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Ensure integration and compliance with telecom standards, including TM Forum (TMF) frameworks, 3GPP standards, and relevant industry protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Network, and Business teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership for complex, cross-domain projects involving multiple teams and external partners/vendors.
  • Evaluate and select new technologies and solutions that improve system performance, reliability, and business agility.
  • Influence enterprise-wide technical strategy and roadmaps in the Charging and OSS/BSS domains.
  • Act as a mentor and advisor to senior engineers and technical leaders across the organization.
  • Establish and drive adoption of best practices in architecture, systems design, and solution integration.
  • Drive the design and optimization of cloud architecture and configurations to ensure systems meet performance, scalability, and business alignment goals.
  • Lead the integration of AI-powered capabilities into enterprise applications, including chatbots, content automation modules, and intelligent recommendation engines.
  • Develop and implement Generative AI workflows, applying techniques such as data embedding, chunking, and leveraging large language models like GPT-4 and other advanced AI tools.


Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree Engineering, Computer Science (Required)
  • 7-10 years Technical engineering experience Required


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 10+ years of technical leadership experience in telecommunications or related industries.
  • Deep understanding of Online Charging Systems (OCS), Network Provisioning Systems, 5G Core systems and in general the Billing and Revenue management, Order Management Systems (OMS) and customer fulfillment platforms.
  • Expertise with telecom and technology standards, including TM Forum frameworks (eTOM, SID, Open APIs) and 3GPP standards for telecommunications services.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing large-scale, high-availability telecom systems.
  • Strong strategic mindset with the ability to connect architecture to business outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to business and technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with cloud-native telecom architectures (e.g., microservices, containerization, orchestration platforms).
  • Familiarity with digital transformation initiatives within telco (e.g., 5G core, network slicing, edge computing).
  • Proficient in AI/ML and Generative AI technologies. Hands-on experience with integrating machine learning models, LLMs (e.g., GPT-4) and other AI tools is a strong plus point.
  • Experience working with major telecom platforms such as, Ericsson, Nokia, Mavinier, Amdocs  or Netcracker OSS/BSS.
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies and experience in leading agile technical teams.

Base Pay Range: $126,800 - $228,900

Corporate Bonus Target: 20%

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year.
