About Us: Our team, Network AI and Core Performance, works with a diverse range of data, from voice and messaging to core and non-terrestrial data. We also handle social media data and customer call scripts. This variety of data enables us to build advanced analytics and Machine Learning (ML) modeling products and solutions. By collaborating with various stakeholders, we translate data-driven insights into strategic actions that support T-Mobile's business objectives and ultimately improve the customer experience for T-Mobile customers.
Position Overview: We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer with a strong Machine Learning (ML) background who is passionate about architecting and building systems for coding, deploying, and maintaining throughout their lifecycle. The Sr Data Engineer designs and develops data architectures in on-premise, cloud and hybrid platforms. The Sr Data Engineer collaborates with ML Engineers on analysis, architecture, design, and development of data warehouse and business analytics solutions. This role mentors other team members in their efforts to build data engineering skills.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of APIs for internal and external data communication.
- Lead initiatives to improve data architecture and infrastructure.
- Design and develop data models to support analytics and reporting needs.
- Define and implement pipelines and infrastructure for performance and reliability.
- Implement and lead data quality assurance processes.
- Mentor junior Data Engineering teams based on a scalable set of best practices.
- Ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to understand data requirements and provide solutions
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, Machine Learning, or another quantitative field (Required)
- Master's/Advanced Degree Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, Machine Learning, or another quantitative field (Preferred)
Work Experience:
- 4 - 7 years proven experience with big data architecture and pipeline development, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Snowflake etc.
- 4 – 7 years proven experience with data modeling and data warehouse design
- 4 - 7 years delivering high-quality ML models in production.
- Experience with real-world MLOps and knowledge of working in cloud-computing environment like Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
- Experience in the telecom industry.
- Proficiency in Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Pyspark.
- Proficiency in SQL for complex data querying and management, as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git and DevOps.
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of data governance and data security best practices.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their data services.
- Knowledge of AI and ML best practices.
- Knowledge on MLOps will be a plus.
- Experience on integrating ML model into date pipeline.
- Ability to orchestrate work across multiple projects, with strong communication and collaboration skills.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Programming Advanced SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases (Required)
- Big Data Solid understanding of machine learning concepts and techniques related to supervised and unsupervised learning (Required)
- Problem Solving Ability to analyze a business problem/situation/task and develop it in a constructive solution to help the business make informed decisions. (Required)
- Management Ability to manage work across multiple projects, good organizational skills (Preferred)
- Telecommunications Domain knowledge related to various streams in telecommunications including but not limited to Marketing, Customer Experience, Finance or Strategy. (Preferred)

Base Pay Range: $108,000 - $194,900Corporate Bonus Target: 15%
The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.
At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
