It involves designing, deploying, and enhancing platform architecture with a focus on security, cost-efficiency, and operational excellence. The position requires collaboration with engineering, data, and product teams within an Agile environment to improve platform capabilities. Job Responsibilities:
- Designs, Develops and deploys platform services to enhance infrastructure performance, security, and cost-efficiency
- Design, deploy, and maintain platform infrastructure across hybrid environments (on-prem, AWS, and Azure)
- Architect and manage compute, storage, and networking resources across hybrid and multi-cloud environments
- Support containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes, to standardize deployment practices
- Optimizes existing platform services to handle core data workloads efficiently
- Ensure system reliability, performance, and security through proactive monitoring, automation, and performance tuning
- Troubleshoot complex platform and application integration issues impacting performance or availability
- Develop, execute, and tune DML logic — queries, data migrations, transformations, and batch operations — for performance and reliability
- Drive incident analysis and reliability reviews to improve operational posture and system resilience
- Collaborates with engineering, data, and product teams to advance platform capabilities
- Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident resolution and root cause analysis
- Own DML operations for platform-managed databases (Postgres, Oracle, Cassandra) while collaborating with the Enterprise team responsible for DDL and schema governance
- Design and maintain Kafka-based data streaming and message-driven workflows to enable asynchronous and event-based platform operations
- Partner across engineering, DevOps, and data teams to design scalable solutions and resolve complex issues
- Focuses on automation and operational excellence to improve developer experience
- Build, enhance, and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation
- Develop automation pipelines and scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell) to eliminate manual processes and improve consistency
- Lead CI/CD improvements for infrastructure deployments using GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or similar tools
- Create reusable automation patterns and documentation for team-wide adoption
- Lead initiatives to enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, CloudWatch, or Azure Monitor
- Design and implement self-healing automation and proactive reliability improvements
- Ensures robust platform architecture and practical engineering solutions
- Engineer hybrid connectivity solutions and optimize network paths between datacenters and cloud services
- Define and implement caching strategies (Redis, Memcached, or similar) to improve performance and reduce database load
- Champion automation-first, data-informed, and DevOps practices across platform teams
- Works within an Agile environment to streamline processes and enhance productivity
- Contribute to Agile ceremonies, driving infrastructure readiness and delivery excellence
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree plus 3 years of related work experience OR advanced degree with 1 year of related work experience OR combination of education and experience deemed equivalent (Required)
- Acceptable areas of study include Computer Science or Related Field (Preferred)
- 4-7+ years - Developing and deploying platform services with a focus on automation and operational excellence
- 4-7+ years - Collaborating with engineering, data, and product teams in an Agile environment to advance platform capabilities
- 4-7+ years - Optimizing infrastructure for performance, security, and cost-efficiency in a cloud environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Agile Methodologies Expertise in applying Agile practices and principles to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of software development projects. (Required)
- Technical Leadership Ability to lead platform engineering teams, providing technical guidance and support in a dynamic environment. (Required)
- Problem Solving Strong analytical skills to solve complex technical issues and optimize platform performance and security. (Required)
- Data Management Proficient in managing and structuring large datasets to improve platform functionality and developer experience. (Required)
- Collaboration Effective in working cross-functionally with various teams to enhance platform capabilities and achieve business goals. (Required)
- Security In-depth understanding of cybersecurity principles to safeguard platform integrity and data privacy. (Required)
Licenses and Certifications:
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA): Certification that validates the ability to design, build, configure, and expose native cloud applications for Kubernetes, an essential skill for platform engineers working with container orchestration. (Preferred)
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect: Certification demonstrating proficiency in designing distributed systems and applications on the AWS platform, which is crucial for optimizing platform services in cloud environments. (Preferred)
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) An advanced-level certification for IT pros serious about careers in information security, focusing on managing and securing corporate environments, aligning with the security aspects of the role. (Preferred)

Base Pay Range: $116,000 - $209,300Corporate Bonus Target: 15%
The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.
At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year.
