*This position is required to come into the Frisco, TX or Overland Park, KS office at least 3 days a week. It is not available for remote work.*

Job Overview
The Sr Category Manager is an individual contributor role that is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies to achieve significant initial cost reductions while maintaining/improving product quality and supplier service levels. It will also be responsible for strategic category management, supplier negotiations, contracts, and ongoing supplier management in designated areas. This position collaborates with IT, HR/Talent Management, Accounting/Finance, R&D, Facilities, and Legal organizations to enable strategic alignment where synergies exist.
The Sr Category Manager works closely with key stakeholders to develop effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans. Its primary responsibility is to utilize industry best practices to generate real savings while making effective supply base decisions with key stakeholders. This includes direct savings captured through consolidating company-wide purchasing volume and applying operational and commercial TCO levers to reduce cost and manage contracts with suppliers. This position will be responsible for a significant amount in annual spend and will report directly to a Sr. Manager level position within Technology Procurement.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Strategically manages spend by utilizing a proven sourcing process that engages stakeholders and aligns to business objectives. Gains credibility and secures high-levels of internal stakeholder's buy-in to strategic initiatives.
  • Develops and directs annual cost savings programs that directly affect company financials and growth plans and generate progressive, year over year cost reductions.
  • Leads supplier selection process, qualification of alternative sources, supply base rationalization programs and other relevant strategies to optimize the supply base.
  • Active Supplier Relationship Management: Development and measurement of KPl's, supplier audits, business reviews, improvement plans, new opportunities, awards, terminations, etc. including savings tracking and ongoing communication to management and stakeholders.
  • Performs proposal analysis, including price analyses, "Should Cost" modeling, benchmarking, etc.
  • Develops cost targets for negotiations, negotiation strategy, and develops and negotiates agreements
  • Acts as Liaison for resolving supplier-related issues for assigned categories.
  • Acts as subject matter expert for assigned categories.


Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree Supply Chain Management/Business/Engineering (Required)
  • Master's/Advanced Degree (Preferred)
  • 10+ year of relevant contract management experience (Required)
  • 5+ year track record in a global procurement organization (Required)
  • Experience within client services, consultant areas a plus (Preferred)
  • Sourcing Indirect spends categories (including MRO, Professional & Engineering Services, IT, Travel, Facilities and others) (Required)

  • Advanced key procurement skills: Contract negotiations, strategic sourcing, management of supplier relationship lifecycle, understanding of risk mitigation principles, and understanding of various cost evaluation methods (TCO, ROI, Payback Period, etc.) (Required)

  • The ability to formulate and articulate a strategy and business case and build a tactical path (Required)

Overland Park, KS Compensation Range: $121,600 - $164,600

Frisco, TX Compensation Range: $129,100 - $174,700

Base Pay Range: $111,700 - $201,600

Corporate Bonus Target: 20%

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year.
