Sr Engineer, Software

The Sr Software Engineer will help ensure that our software, systems and infrastructure are designed and implemented to the highest security standards. Regularly designs, develops, implements and supports internal business systems/applications, systems interfaces, databases, reporting, and/or business intelligence systems, as required to deliver proactive methods to enhance our overall security posture. This software must meet customer’s requirements, scale easily, remove the limitations of traditional networking solutions, and support deployment in highly available environments. The Sr Software Engineer will work with a team of Software Engineers on complex projects and normally receives little instruction on daily work. Technical assignments require sound judgment when resolving issues and making recommendations as well as considerable initiative. Works under the guidance of a Principal Engineer and often leads and mentors other Software Engineers.

  • Technical System Expertise: Understands system protocols, how systems operate and data flows. Aware of current technology benefits. Encouraged to independently develop a full software stack. Understands the building blocks, interactions, dependencies, and tools required to complete software and automation work. Independent study of current technology is encouraged. Interact with architects and principal engineers to define system requirements.
  • Technical Engineering Services: Drives engineering projects by developing software solutions, conducting tests and inspections and preparing reports and calculations.
  • Innovation: Contributes to designs that implement new ideas which improve an existing or new system/process/service. Contributes to designs that implement new ideas which apply new frameworks to improve an existing or new system/process/service. Understands and can apply new industry perspectives to our existing business model. Review existing designs and processes to highlight more efficient ways to complete existing workload more efficiently through industry perspectives. Possesses security knowledge and experience that will cultivate new insights for improving various faucets of security across the organization.
  • Technical Leadership: Collaborates with technical teams and applies system expertise to deliver technical solutions. Continuously learns and guides others existing and new technologies. Contributes to the development of others through mentoring or in house workshops and learning sessions. Encouraged to supervise base and associate level engineers as needed.
  • Technical Writing: Maintains knowledge of existing technology documents. Writes basic documentation on how technology works. Builds clear documentation for new code and systems used. Documenting systems designs, presentations, and business requirements for consumption and consideration at the manager level. Understands the protection of company Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
  • Technology Strategy: Contributes to new and existing technology options that support business goals.
  • Translates business and functional requirements into detailed backlog in partnership with Product Owner.
  • Follows the “you build it, you own it” principal and is ready to lead/facilitate production outage calls/issues when vital.
  • Accurately sizes initiatives, features and projects by providing accurate estimates of effort required for development deliverables. Size work in iterative deliverables so team can follow the plan-do-act-check process.
  • Maintains technical skills and expertise as well as security knowledge through continued education and training.
  • Responsible for other Duties/Projects as assigned by business management as needed.

5-7 years of technical engineering experience
  • Knowledgeable in Node.js, Express js, Mocha, Chai, Sinon, GitLab CI/CD pipeline, OAuth2.0, OpenID Connect, Apigee, Serverless architecture.
  • Should have considerable experience in AWS/GCP/AZURE services and infrastructure like Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, CloudWatch, S3, SSM, IAM and Cloud Formation.
2-4 years of experience in security technology or related field
  • Knowledge of current technological trends and developments in the area of info security.
  • Knowledge of information security policies and regulatory controls (per team function)
  • Some knowledge of critical security elements, threats, vulnerabilities, and safeguards
  • Subject matter expert in a few facets of network & information security, including Firewall policy design, SSL Certificate management, vulnerability analysis & mitigation, and other topics as assigned.
  • Knowledge of federal & compliance regulations e.g. SOX, PCI & CPNI
2-4 years of experience working in a large enterprise
Knowledge of Scripting tools (Java/Python/Perl/Shell/HTML/PHP)

Preferred:
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)

Bachelors in Computer Science or Engineering

Base Pay Range: $113,600 - $205,000

Corporate Bonus Target: 15%

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year.
