Sr. Forecasting & Analytics Manager

As a Sr. Forecasting & Analytics Manager, you are responsible for leading the application of various techniques including machine learning and statistical methods to solve business problems and produce forecasts with regard to devices (products). You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of technical and non-technical business partners on a wide range of challenges. You must demonstrate expertise across the entire analytics and machine learning lifecycle, including problem framing, data collection, exploratory data analysis, model development, deployment, foreacsting, and product performance measurement.

The Sr. Forecasting & Analytics Manager is a visionary, strategist, analyst, customer evangelist, and professional relationship builder all rolled into a single dynamic package. You will be ultimately accountable, responsible, and have ownership and insight of T-Mobile's internal and external products, platforms, services, experiences envisioned and created, to again achieve the specific business purpose or business results. At a high level, this means predicting/identifying the intersection of customer problems/unmet needs and opportunities, technical feasibility, business objectives, and working with a cross-functional team as well as key partners to deliver against these opportunities.

No day is the same for the Sr. Forecasting & Analytics Manager. Day-to-day activities or responsibilities include: defining/conducting market research; resolving short and long-term strategies of devices/products; helping drive and support product, through analytics and modeling, Forecasting and predictive performance and above all, delivery of product perfomance end to end. Partnering with development, project/program management, marketing, finance, procurement and other key collaborators is paramount.

Responsibilities:

  • Extract, prepare and model large, complex data sets using a combination of skills, including machine learning theory, mathematics, statistics, and programming
  • Owns product/device forecasts and analysis end to end, for cross-platform solutions of the highest level of complexity and scope. This includes creating, managing, maintaining and communicating forecast accuracy, product performance, vision and promotional/seasonal impacts
  • Identifies target customer(s) for existing or future products (handsets and devices), and designs and drives end-user research/output/performance for these product(s)
  • Partners with business, internal/external collaborators and Leadership to understand current customer preferences, identifies key areas of opportunity
  • Deliver on-time quality analysis, interpretation, and synthesis of data into effective, concise, and actionable recommendations that enable intelligent decisioning for the company.  Product opportunities or root cause of issues and assess opportunity size and impact. Work with other data scientists/managers to answer complex questions or identify significant insights from data.
  • Anticipates industry trends, direction, innovation, analyses potential impacts or opportunities to customer/ product(s), and incorporates analyses into the model(s)
  • Drives specific ad hoc analysis and presents information to executive (VP and below) level management on request
  • Supports marketing, finance, and other partner teams with the necessary product/forecasting knowledge and additional analytical documentation when requested
  • Collaborates and develops positive working relationships with many teams, including sales, commercial accounting, marketing, legal, go-to-market, and finance. Works with outside partners and other third parties.
  • Also responsible for other Duties/Projects as assigned by business management as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years Product Industry experience in predictive modeling, data science, and analysis, building and deploying ML/AI models or hands on experience developing deep learning models with respect to product (Devices/Handsets) 
  • 4-7 years Experience with data scripting languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R) with forecasting applications (SAS or other)
  • 4-7 years Experience in product forecasting and long-range product performance predictability and articulating and translating business questions and using statistical techniques to arrive at an answer using available data
  • Confirmed ability to effectively and efficiently communicate with Leadership, while employing a high degree of collaboration and influence.
  • Expertise in Python, SQL and SAS
  • Calculus, linear algebra, statistics, and probability
  • Strong requirements elicitation, and validated writing skills including the ability to write concisely and clearly for different audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to identify/analyze/synthesize product use data and use the data to drive decisions.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Quantitative Discipline (math, statistics, economics, computer science, physics, engineering)
  • Master’s/Advanced degree in Quantitative Discipline (math, statistics, economics, computer science, physics, engineering) preferred

    Base Pay Range: $121,600 - $219,400

    Corporate Bonus Target: 20%

    The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

    At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year.
