This is an 11-week paid learning experience during which you’ll be able to connect and network with other interns and leaders within the company. We invite you to come innovate with mentors who will challenge you to develop meaningful skills. You’ll contribute your creativity and outstanding ideas, while working alongside T-Mobile employees. We’ll give you hands-on projects and the chance to create an immediate impact.
What You'll Do
- Experiment with prompt engineering to improve AI response quality and accuracy
- Test different model configurations and parameters to optimize performance
- Help fine-tune models on T-Mobile's customer interaction data
- Develop tools and scripts that enhance how our AI models reason and complete tasks
- Work with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to help AI pull relevant information from our knowledge base
- Contribute to agentic AI systems that break down complex customer requests into manageable steps
- Create test cases and evaluation frameworks to measure AI performance
- Analyze real customer interaction data to identify areas for improvement
- Track metrics like intent detection accuracy and workflow completion rates
- Partner with engineers and designers to integrate AI improvements into production
- Document your experiments and share takeaways with the team
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to team discussions on AI architecture
Required:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field (Junior or Senior preferred)
- Strong Python programming skills
- Experience working with APIs and understanding how they work
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts and frameworks
- Curiosity about LLMs and how they work (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.)
- Experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face)
- Knowledge of prompt engineering or working with AI tools like LangChain
- Basic understanding of vector databases or RAG techniques
- Basic understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)

This isn't a typical internship where you shadow someone or work on throwaway projects. You'll own real work, ship code to production, and see the results of what you build.

Must be actively enrolled in Bachelors or Graduate degree program
Employees of T-Mobile or Metro by T-Mobile are ineligible for Internships

Relocation assistance may be provided to program participants who reside more than 50 miles from the internship location.
Intern wages range from $20/hour to $40/hour. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on experience/location.
