Tax Manager - M&A / Planning

The T-Mobile Tax Department is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join the Tax Planning / M&A team. In this role you will partner with other Tax, Accounting, Legal, Strategy and Corporate Development teams to evaluate and support business initiatives and find opportunities for value creation and risk mitigation. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with strategic transactions, partnership taxation, inbound and outbound international tax and tax legal entity structuring. Strong analytical skills, cross-functional communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct complex tax planning and analysis and analyzes tax law changes. Monitor laws for applicability to the business and determines impact of proposed or enacted legislative changes, including all tax jurisdictions, generally accepted accounting principles and international financial reporting standards.

  • Conduct detailed tax analysis and tax risk review of potential targets or transaction partners in support of Corporate Development initiatives. Evaluates tax structuring alternatives for acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, investments, or other strategic transactions. Assists with review of tax intercompany agreements and tax-specific provisions in third-party legal agreements.

  • Manage preparation/review of U.S. international tax and foreign tax filings including executing cash tax payments, partner with external consultants, gathering/calculating complex tax data using updated technology methods, and U.S. international tax compliance.

  • Assist with preparation/review of quarterly GAAP & IFRS Income tax provisions and statutory audits including complex book/tax difference analysis, uncertain tax position and non-income tax reserves, share-based payments, state apportionment/rates, tax basis balance sheet, account reconciliations, SOX control documentation, external audit requests, and SEC footnote disclosures.

  • Review complex returns for strategic filing positions.

    Assists with preparation/review of quarterly GAAP & IFRS Income tax provisions and statutory audits including complex book/tax difference analysis, uncertain tax position and non-income tax reserves, share-based payments, tax basis balance sheet, account reconciliations, SOX control documentation, external audit requests, and SEC footnote disclosures.

  • Provide support for foreign jurisdictional audits. Gathers information for responses to audit and appeal requests


Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree Accounting or related field (Required)
  • 4-7 years Progressively responsible multi-state tax experience with emphasis on research, tax planning, compliance and audits within the telecommunication industry. Required

    Base Pay Range: $82,800 - $149,500

    Corporate Bonus Target: 15%

    The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

    At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year.
